SIR PAUL McCartney married Linda Eastman in 1969 – and the couple remained happily together until her untimely death at the age of just 56.

Who was John Eastman?
John Eastman was the older brother of Linda McCartney– and therefore brother-in-law of The Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney.
He studied law and became a music attorney to the stars – including McCartney and The Beatles.
When the Fab Four hit splitsville, the group members utilized John and his father Lee’s legal expertise, particularly Sir Paul.
At the time, Paul was John’s brother-in-law and Lee’s son-in-law.

John’s sister Linda married rock legend Paul on March 12, 1969.
Paul and Linda tied the knot in a Marylebone, London, wedding ceremony a week before John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s wedding date on Thursday, March 20.
The couple met two years earlier in May 1967 while Linda was on a photography assignment at a Georgia Fame concert.
Through his sister’s marriage to Paul, John had three nieces – Heather, Mary, and Stella– and one nephew, James.

On April 17, 1998, Linda died from a health battle with breast cancer.
She was first diagnosed with the disease in 1995, and was 56 years old at the time of her passing.
John and Linda also had two younger sisters Laura and Louise Jr.

On August 11, 2022, it was revealed that John Eastman died due to health complications from pancreatic cancer.
On Twitter, Sir Paul paid tribute to his late brother-in-law and said: “My dear brother-in-law, John Eastman, has passed away.
“Having known each other for over 50 years it is an extremely sad time for me, and our families.
“John was a great man. One of the nicest and smartest people I have had the good luck to have known in my life.”
The legendary star shared: “Not only did he help me massively in my business dealings as my lawyer but as a friend he was hard to beat.
“His sense of humour always shone through in everything he did and his devotion to his family was supreme.”
“We had so many fun times together through the years, but when the time came to be serious, he was unbeatable.”

He added: “There is so much more that can be said of his incredible qualities, but words can hardly describe his passion for life and our affection for this amazing man.
“He will be sorely missed but always held dear in the hearts of those of us who knew and loved him. See ya Johnny! Love Paul.”
