MUSIC fans have been given a raw deal — as a recording of Sir Paul McCartney munching carrots and celery is released.

Audio of the Beatles legend chewing the veg was used as a jokey backing track by rock band Super Furry Animals two decades ago.

And although it won’t be to everyone’s taste, they’ve now made his snappy contribution available in its full glory on its own.

Macca sent them the unusual recording after meeting them at the NME awards in 2000.

The group, announcing the 20-year reissue of their album Rings Around The World, have included his contribution in their “75 curiosities from the vaults”.

It was originally used as wacky percussion on the Cardiff band’s track Receptacle for the Respectable.

A source last night said of it being released on its own: “Admittedly, this is no Hey Jude.

“But it might provide some nice background noise for a true Beatles fan. Or a vegan.”

Vegetarian Macca, 79, had also famously “played” the celery on 1967 Beach Boys song Vegetables.
